“Forgotten Hollywood Forgotten History”- New historic home!
Manny P. here…
The Hollywood Roosevelt Hotel is a true landmark in the heart of tinsel town. It’s the site of the very first Academy Awards show held in 1929. Named after President Theodore Roosevelt, the twelve-story facility was orignally financed in 1927 by Louis B. Mayer, Douglas Fairbanks, and Mary Pickford (among others). It contains about 300 rooms and suites.
This location drips in history. Marilyn Monroe lived there (room 246). So did Montgomery Clift in 1953 during the filming of the award winning From Here To Eternity (room 928).
Forgotten Hollywood Forgotten History can now be purchased at The Thompson Xchange Gift Shop located on the third floor of The Hollywood Roosevelt Hotel. My book is available in two prestigious gift shops in the heart of Hollywood (also at The Paley Center for Media in Beverly Hills). How fitting my paperback also resides on the shelves of The Margaret Herrick Library at The Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences.
Adjacent to The Kodak Theatre, 2010 promises to be a grand year in the history of this famed hotel. Turner Classic Movies is hosting several events at this location during its first annual TCM Film Festival on April 22-25. I’m proudly working with Stephanie Ratner, the retail supervisor, in setting up a book-signing event, which will complement the festival in April. I will keep you informed on dates and times of the event in a later blog.

I urge you to stop by and stay at (or visit) The Hollywood Roosevelt Hotel. The Spanish-style decor and its very walls will speak to you about Hollywood’s Golden Age. And don’t forget to visit The Thompson Xchange Gift Shop and ask for a copy of Forgotten Hollywood Forgotten History.
Until next time> “never forget“

Manny, I enjoyed your talk at the California Writers Club of Long Beach last night. Your information was very interesting. The book is terrific and has excellent production values. I’ll be eager to see Son of Forgotten….
