“`Vic Damone  was one of the final surviving crooners of popular music’s golden era.  Famously described as having the best pipes in the business by Frank Sinatra, his performing career lasted five decades and spawned dozens of hits, thanks to his smooth, mellow baritone style. Vic was best known for his version of  On the Street Where You Live from My Fair Lady. Wed five times, his wives included Pier Angeli and Diahann Carroll. Vic was also rumored to have ties to the mob.             VIC DAMONE –>

“`Damone’s career was launched in 1947, when he garnered first place in Arthur Godfrey’s Talent Scouts show, which led to regular radio gigs; and a chance encounter with comedian Milton Berle, who helped the 19 year-old performer get gigs at prominent nightclubs. This led to his recording contract with Mercury Records. With matinee idol good looks, Damone also signed a contract with MGM in 1951. He sang on the soundtrack in An Affair to Remember. He was a frequent guest star on 1960s television, and a mainstay in Las Vegas with his stage presentation.
