“`Allan Burns was a screenwriter and television producer. He was best known for creating and writing television sitcoms for two decades. His career journey began as a page for NBC.             ALLAN BURNS –>

“`Before working in television and cinema, he became an employee for Jay Ward Productions, animating  The Rocky and Bullwinkle Show, Dudley Do-RightFractured Flickers, and George of the Jungle. Allan created the Cap’n Crunch character for Quaker Oats.

“`After forming a partnership with Chris Hayward, and later, James L. Brooks, Burns had his hand in the creation of such iconic sitcoms as The Munsters, My Mother the Car, He and She, and Get Smart (with Hayward); Room 222, The Mary Tyler Moore Show, Rhoda, and Lou Grant (with Brooks). Several Emmys followed.

“`On the big screen, he co-wrote Butch and Sundance: The Early Days, and the Academy Award-nominated screenplay for A Little Romance.

“`Allan Burns was eighty-five.
